290 kilograms of plastic collected in four activities on Konyaaltı Beach

Four field activities on and near Konyaaltı Beach between 22 September and 27 October 2026 collected 290 kilograms of plastic waste.

Under the Konyaaltı Beach Plastic Partnership, coordinated by Yeryüzü Foundation, four field activities took place on and near the beach between 22 September and 27 October 2026. Six waste pickers joined the work, together with local residents and foundation representatives. By the end of the four activities, 290 kilograms of plastic waste had been collected.

On 22 September 2026, the first activity collected 40 kilograms of plastic.

On 7 October 2026, the second activity again collected 40 kilograms of plastic. The cumulative total of the two activities reached 80 kilograms.

On 16 October 2026, teams from Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and Konyaaltı Municipality joined the field work, and 80 kilograms of plastic were collected. Municipal participation in the four activities of this period was limited to that day. The cumulative total of the three activities reached 160 kilograms.

On 27 October 2026, six waste pickers, local residents and Yeryüzü Foundation representatives collected 130 kilograms of plastic. The four activities together reached 290 kilograms.

Collecting plastic that builds up on the beach and nearby helps reduce the risk of it being carried into the sea or breaking down in the environment. The reported 290 kilograms is the amount of plastic waste collected. It is not a measured quantity of microplastic prevented.

The project is carried out with financial support from Beyond Plastic Med (BeMed). The implementation period is planned as 1 June 2026–30 November 2027. This news item is based only on the four field activities between 22 September and 27 October 2026.
