Shared responsibility for the Mediterranean
Held at Atatürk Cultural Centre under the auspices of the Antalya Governorship, the launch brought together public bodies, municipalities, civil society, academics and professional associations. The initiative aims to strengthen institutional cooperation and public participation in protecting the sea and coastline.
Preventing pollution at its source
Priorities presented included waste prevention, wider use of deposit-return systems, preventing land-based marine pollution and protecting seagrass meadows. Coastal and marine clean-ups are intended to be supported by awareness activities and a sustained approach to environmental management.
This approach aligns with the Foundation’s emphasis on managing waste before it reaches nature, responsible resource use and local participation in environmental and climate action. Protecting the future of the sea and coastline requires shared responsibility, from everyday consumption habits to institutional practices.
Civil society participation
By attending the launch, the Foundation’s delegation joined civil society representatives at a gathering focused on protecting Antalya’s sea and coastline. The Earth Foundation considers following local environmental initiatives and maintaining dialogue with different stakeholders to be an important part of its local climate and environmental work.
