    Environmental significance

    Plastic collected,
    pollution risk reduced.

Collecting plastic from the beach and nearby areas helps reduce the risk of it being carried into the sea or breaking down in the environment.

    01

    The directly measured result

A total of 290 kg of plastic waste was collected during four field activities. This quantity is the dashboard’s primary environmental indicator.

    02

Addressing the risk of marine leakage

Collection took place both on the coast and in nearby areas, removing plastic at risk of being carried into the sea from those locations.

    03

    Contribution to preventing microplastic formation

Plastic left in the environment can gradually break into smaller pieces, forming secondary microplastics. Collecting this plastic addresses that risk at an early stage.

Scope of measurement: 290 kg is the amount of plastic waste collected, not a measured quantity of microplastics or microplastic formation prevented. No calculation has been made of how many kilograms of microplastics these activities prevented.

    Local participation

    Working together
    in the field.

Six waste pickers participated alongside local residents and Yeryüzü Foundation representatives. The project is developing a collaborative model that recognises waste pickers’ work and supports local participation.
